Department of Sociology in collaboration with Women Cell of GDC Marheen celebrated National Girl Child Day on the theme “Empowering Girls for a Bright Future” under the patronage of Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Anupama Gupta. In her address, she emphasized that Girls are the architects of a better future; empowering them with education, opportunities, and confidence is not just a responsibility but a necessity for building a progressive society, and let us ensure every girl realizes her full potential and contributes to the growth of our nation. The programme started with the lighting of the lamp along with the recitation of Saraswati Vandana by the students. The programme was organized and supervised by Dr. Munisha Devi and Prof. Manu Saini (Convener, Women Cell and HOD Department of Sociology). The event featured a spirited Intra-college debate competition where students passionately discussed gender equality and empowerment. The jury members of the competition were Prof. Sandeep Choudhary, Dr Balbinder Singh and Prof. Anoop Sharma. In the competition, 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions were bagged by Kanika, Pallvi and Monika respectively. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where winners of the competitions were honored for their outstanding performances. The other faculty members who were present during the program were are Dr Arun Dev Singh, Dr. Shallu Rani, Prof Diksha Sharma, Prof Suman, Dr Meenu Sharma, Prof Naresh Kumar, Prof Naresh Kumari , Prof Saquib and Prof Arpana.
