Department of Computer Application under the aegis of IQAC of GDC Marheen organized awareness workshop on the theme together for a better Internet in the college. The programme was organized under the patronage of Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Anupama Gupta. In the workshop Prof. Anoop Sharma (HOD, Department of Computer Application and Convener IQAC) celebrated Safer Internet Day: Promoting Online Safety and Digital Responsibility in the college. He addressed in detail the history, impact and importance of the day. Moreover, he discussed Protecting Privacy: Raising awareness about safeguarding personal information online, Cyberbullying: Encouraging students to identify and report online bullying, Cybersecurity: Educating about threats like phishing, scams, and malware, Digital Footprint: Understanding the long-term impact of online actions, Online Predators: Grooming, scams, and exploitation, Identity Theft: Risks of personal data theft for fraudulent activities, Phishing Attacks: Deceptive emails or messages aimed at stealing passwords and financial info, Best practice Protect Your Passwords, Be Mindful of Your Digital Footprint: Think before you post, as content is often permanent, Avoid Sharing Personal Information , Use Secure Websites: Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), Be Aware of Phishing Scams: suspicious links, Safe Privacy Settings, Think Before You Share: Don’t post personal information like your location or financial details, Reporting Suspicious Accounts: Report any profiles or pages that seem to be involved in scams or harmful behavior, Stay Anonymous: Avoid revealing too much personal info in your bio or profile picture. Recognize the Signs: Harassment, spreading rumors, or exclusion, Take Action: Block and report the person, or talk to a trusted adult or counselor, Support Others: Stand against cyberbullying by supporting victims and promoting kindness, Resources for Staying Safe Online, Helplines: National and international helplines for online safety support, Parental control apps, antivirus, and anti-malware software recommendations. The other faculty members presented in the programme were Prof. Sandeep Choudhary, Dr. Arun Dev Singh, Dr. Balbinder, Dr. Munisha, Dr. Shallu and Prof Manu also joined the programme. Students actively participated and clear their doubts by asking a number of questions after the lecture.
